Four ways to playAlone, or with the crew

Together

Halden is a hard place to be alone, and it can be played that way. It can also be played with a crew, in the story or in a city that never closes. The city, the sick, the factions and the body are the same in all four.

Which Halden?

You choose the shape of the world when you start a new game, and it keeps that shape.

The crew

Up to eight in a world. Up to four in a crew.

Bring friends into the Campaign or a persistent city: one of you hosts and everyone looks, carries and plays differently. A crew of up to four on your accounts goes everywhere together, with a shared base, pings and quick-chat.

Your friends list is shared by the launcher, the game and this website: see where your friends are, invite them, and join their game in one press.

  • The host keeps the world, and everyone sees the same one.
  • Join late and you are given the world as it stands. Drop out and you can come back.
  • Your body, your pack and your gear are your own.
  • Invites and joining through Steam Coming

Dedicated servers

A city that never ends.

A server runs the persistent city on its own, so the world goes on while you are away, and everyone who joins is a survivor in it. It is built for up to fifty at once, with the admin tools a server needs: kick, ban, an allow list and a console.

Servers open to everyone are on the roadmap, with official servers by region and the server as a download anyone can run.

Something to show for it

Two ladders.

The Decay Rank counts the runs you win alone, with one life. The Survivor Rank counts the runs you win together. Fifty ranks each, achievements along the way, and things to wear that show where you are.

  1. An account

A username and a password, made in the launcher or on this website. No email address, no real name, no payment details.

  2. Your ranks

Your ranks, your record and your recent wins are on the Account page of this site and in the launcher.

  3. Your crew

Join, decline or leave a crew from the website or the game, and see your friends list in both.
